PIease Read Before Adopting a Clumber Spaniel in Louisiana
Clumber Spaniel Dogs can make good pets in Louisiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Clumber Spaniel is a laid back, pleasant, intelligent hunting dog. Clumber Spaniels are affectionate and very good with children in their own family but have trouble making friends with strangers. Training and discipline should be gentle for Clumber Spaniels. Clumber Spaniels are eager to please so they can be trained fairly easily. Clumbers do well with other family pets raised alongside them. Clumber Spaniels like to chew and should always have toys for this purpose. Clumbers like to fetch, walk, and jog, but not on pavement during very hot weather. Clumber puppies are very active but mellow out as adults. Clumber Spaniels are good for homes with a decent sized yard.

The Clumber Spaniel was first bred in France in 1768. Clumber Spaniels were initially developed by the Duke of Noailles, who sent them to the Duke of Newcastle, an English family member, so the dogs would be safe from the French Revolution. Clumbers are the heaviest spaniels. Clumbers may be descended in part from St. Bernards.
