We were looking for a dog for a few months when I came across Athena's (renamed Lola) picture. I immediately fell in love with her and messaged her profile to my husband, who advised me to fill out an application for her because he fell in love with her too. This is extremely rare for him to say! I was overjoyed when Mercy Rescue contacted me and told me that they would be at an adoption event that day, and if I wanted her, she was mine. Did I ever! It was hard not to speed the hour's drive to get there as quick as I could. Lola is just the most adorable, sweetest puppy...a ball of infinite energy with the biggest personality! Her new big brother is a nine year old Golden Retriever, whom she tries to imitate. It's so cute watching her think she is a big dog! We are waiting to see how large she becomes. We were told she could weigh from 29-85 pounds! She's our little element of mystery, and we love her to pieces. The foster family that cared for Lola did an excellent job of raising her from a newborn to 3 months. I was able to meet her foster mother, and I was so overwhelmed with awe for her and the others at Mercy Rescue who open their hearts in the most generous ways to our furry friends. While picking up Lola, Mercy was extremely helpful. I have only adopted from shelters before, and this was my first experience with a foster-to-rescue organization. I want to thank them for Lola, and all that they did to make this a very positive experience. |
