5. | Contact local animal shelters and rescue groups and tell them about Rescue Me! |
If you haven't already, view our Success Blog which contains over 6,000 success story letters sent to Rescue Me! Most animals posted on Rescue Me! find great homes within hours or days of being posted ― faster than any other method. Many groups and shelters still don't know this. Read some of our success stories then let your local shelters, humane societies and rescue groups know about our free service. Rescue groups, humane societies and shelters can visit this page to get started: Help for Rescue Groups & Shelters What if a local group or shelter says they don't have time to use Rescue Me? If your local shelter or rescue groups can't post their own animals, follow the instructions on our shelter page, and volunteer to take photos of animals and post them yourself on their behalf. |
6. | Become a "Clumber Spaniel Foster" for an animal which is about to be euthanized. |
Rescue Me! doesn't offer a formal foster program, however, you can still become a foster parent for any animal you see on this site. If you want to help an animal, particularly one about to be euthanized, adopt it yourself from the shelter posting the animal. Then, create your own free posting account on Rescue Me! and post the animal again. You may have to keep it anywhere from a few days to a few months, but given the success most animals have on Rescue Me!, it shouldn't be too hard to find a permanent home for most animals. |
7. | Add the Rescue Me! widget to your personal or business website. |
If you are able to edit the HTML on your own personal or business website, add the Rescue Me! widget to one or more pages of your website. Click the top of the widget below for instructions. This is a mini version of Rescue Me!, allowing people to view the latest animal postings within your own site! Try it now yourself... |
8. | Donate used or new Macintosh computers, laptops, iPhones or iPads to Rescue Me! | ||
Rescue Me! uses Apple Mac computers, laptops, iPhones and iPads to operate our rescue network in data centers around the world. We will put your technology to use on our network, provide it to our affiliated shelters, or auction it off to raise funds to care for rescue animals.
|
9. | Promote Rescue Me! at work, school, church or to your local community group. |
Many businesses, schools, churches and other groups put out newsletters. Write up something about Rescue Me! and submit it for publication. Be sure to include the correct URL for our website: www.RescueMe.Org |
10. | Spay or neuter your animals, and help those who can't afford to. |
The primary reason there are so many homeless animals is that many animals are not spayed or neutered. Dogs and cats can have large litters of puppies or kittens. Be sure to spay or neuter your own pets. And, if you know any friends or family with animals they cannot afford to spay or neuter, offer to help them cover this cost. (Many communities even offer clinics which offer discount or free spaying and neutering.) |
